Ron Swanson explains taxes to a young student

This guy is by far the best character on network television today!

  1. This would be far better had be been stealing her lunch money, as opposed to her lunch.

  2. It's supposed to be infantile. The makers of the video are using humor to prove a point. I don't remember anyone here or in the video advocating for zero taxes. Those were your words - so maybe you should lighten up.

  3. What "point" is being "proven"?

If not advocating for drastically lower tax rates, what is the video advocating?

And, I don't "lighten up" because the attitude present in the video and promulgated on this website, is turning the USA into a fractious failure.

  4. "Income and inheritance taxes imply the denial of private property, and in that are different in principle from all other taxes."

Personally, I like the fact that a different viewpoint is represented on network TV. If you don't like it, don't watch the show. The left-wing viewpoint is certainly well-represented in education, if nothing else. In fact, I'm still angry at my 7th grade history teacher for telling me that the New Deal solved the Great Depression. YOU HEAR THAT, MRS. STEVENSON?! YOU WERE WRONG!!!

What Mr. Schons fails to mention, however, is an argument based on basic math. We could currently tax all personal and corporate income at 100% and we would not cover current expenditures. Therefore, it's a SPENDING problem. And let's also discuss how some of the states with the highest taxation, like California and New Jersey, are in horrible deficit situations.

I'm also not sure, why, at this point in time, anyone would want to give more of their income to the political elites. What exactly do they do with it that is so wonderful?

As I look around the world, I see the West on a steep decline with aging populations, high debt levels, terrible monetary policies, and the continued erosion of civil, economic, and individual liberties.

Countries like Chile and Singapore are the opposite, as they aim to attract entrepreneurship rather than repel it.
