Gordon Brown vs Barack Obama on Afghanistan:

Gordon Brown: It is to make Britain safe and the rest of the world
safe that we must make sure we honour our commitment to maintain a
free and stable Afghanistan...

Barack Obama: victory in the war-torn country isn't necessarily the
United States' goal....I'm always worried about using the word
'victory,' because, you know, it invokes this notion of Emperor
Hirohito coming down and signing a surrender to MacArthur...

Whew...inspiring stuff Obama. Perhaps we should drop apology leaflets
over Afghanistan.
